It’s nice to be part of a pack and the Eldridge boys are that. We’ve photographed them, along with their Mom, Stacy several times over the last decade. You get out your camera and you’re shoulder-deep in testosterone, conversations about hunting, being outside, riding dirt bikes and growing up on a family farm.
Gage Eldridge is a senior in high school this year, and like most guys in his late teens, he isn’t a fan of having his picture taken. What he is willing to do is bow to his Mom’s wishes. GOOD MAN.
Pixels has an ace up our sleeve when it comes to photographs of uncomfortable men, uncomfortable young men, boys who need to laugh and feel like they aren’t being hammered underneath the gaze of some critical eye. I’ll end the suspense and tell you that it’s Ryan. There were no girls allowed, no frills, no extra nonsense and mussing. It was just a couple of guys hanging out on a farm, having guy talk and taking photos in between. It’s the most comfortable environment and makes for the most natural portraits. Gage has practically grown up working, hunting and riding dirt bikes on this family farm in Hamptonville NC so it only seemed appropriate that it be the location for his senior portraits. Don’t be fooled thinking this guy is all farm boy. Check out his favorite floral print shirt! Enjoy your Senior year, Gage.

Recently we were hired by good friend and fellow wedding aficionado, Kelly of BeYOUtiful Prom Boutique at Bridal Traditions to take some commercial fashion photos for her. We go way back with Kelly and with her amazing business, so we were jazzed to jump in and do our part to help her as she prepares her marketing materials for 2018’s prom season. We photographed model and real junior-prom attendee Stacie Shumate in her actual prom gown purchased from BeYOUtiful Prom. The fashion shoot took place in our outdoor portrait garden at the Pixels’ studio in Wilkesboro. We photographed Stacie’s portraits just three short years ago in the peach orchards and can’t believe how much she has changed in such a short time. It was a pleasure and a treat! Thanks for letting us be a part of your business and life and for letting us watch you grow Stacie. We love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. Dear Ones,
We are still taking appointments for a limited number of portraits in the great outdoors for fall, so this is sort of a Last Call. Baby Case is on his way, so we’ve kept the appointments to a limited number, but we want to serve as many people as possible.
These sessions will take place in Boone, Blowing Rock, Jefferson or Wilkesboro to keep this pregnant Mama close to home. Sessions are open from September 30th – through the second week of October or until Little Man arrives.
We anticipate the color change in the NC mountains to be earlier this year due to the lack of rain and fact that we’ve already seen some color change and leaves falling. We encourage those wanting photos to reserve their session as soon as possible. Session fees start at $150 and are due at the time of reservation. Call 336-990-0080 or email mail@pixelsonpaper.net for more info or to reserve your session. There are spots available still, so contact us as soon as possible and we’ll get you on our schedule.

One of the joys – and believe me there are many – of being a photographer is seeing something happen with a client that you had no idea about. Do you follow? Sometimes, you’re taking family photos of a couple with their first child and discover later that the second is on the way. Or a family has gathered at a reunion and later, when a beloved member has passed, we all realize that the photos were the last. Time moves.
This is not that story though. This is business and a wonderful one at that. We photographed Ashley and Oscar’s wedding last year and fell in love with them and their story. Now, Ashley has created Orozco’s Christian Craft Shop and you can find them and Ashley’s amazing specialty work on Facebook.

I giggle a little every time I hear people opine that they just don’t have time for a portrait session. It’s not condescension, I promise. I understand busy. I “do” busy myself like plenty of other folks. This is life. But I also know that with a plan and a little will, you can pull off a photoshoot with you and your loved ones. Exhibit A: the Mendelson and Hon families we photographed recently.
We photographed Caroline and Andrew Mendelson’s wedding April 6, 2013. They found us through two referrals and were married in NC even though they lived in Boston at the time and still do. Caroline contacted us just a few weeks ago to find out if we were available to photograph her family along with her Mom and Dad, Mr. & Mrs. Hon while they were visiting them in NC for a week. OF COURSE, we made time in our schedule to make it happen. The sweet Mendelson family has increased by two since we last saw them 4 years ago. Big sister Julia and little Hannah were so much fun to get to watch, tickle and photograph. We loved getting to spend a few hours in Dobson, NC catching up with everyone and celebrating Mr. Hon’s birthday, which just happened to be that day. I suspect he’ll love looking back on photos of his two grand-daughters – a couple of little cupcakes – who came to celebrate with him and his wife. These latest memories will soon decorate the walls of their homes.
We do our best to accommodate requests for family portrait sessions because we know how much they matter. We’re spread out in this enormous country and time together is at a premium. Creating heirlooms for families like the Hons and Mendelson’s is our distinct pleasure.
