David’s Starmount High School Senior Photos

David, David, David …….. you were once a boy and I know because I was there. And now, even after a year of pandemic and readjustments, you’re a graduate. What on EARTH?

We were able to capture David Eldridge’s Senior Portraits earlier, where he could show off his All Guy style and love of the outdoors. Finally, after some quarantining, Ryan was able to meet up with this graduate at his former Starmount High School to get great shots of David in his cap and gown. These milestones are so important and when I think about David and his brothers when they were little, I just shake my head that time has run – sprinted! – to this point.

We’ve photographed this family many, many times, including brother Gage’s senior portraits, a family gathering or two, and the earliest years when mom Stacy was wrangling them from all corners of the property. They are the sweetest family.

Congratulations, David! We’re so proud of you!

We love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. Pixels on Paper photographs newborns and families, special events and portraits  of all kinds in our Wilkesboro, NC studio. We would be honored to meet with you, learn about you and your family and be a part of taking special portraits that will become, we hope, family heirlooms.

Senior Portraits – Get Ready!

Senior portrait season is upon us, for both college and high schoolers, and after the year we are all striving to come back from – with normality, if not vigor – it’s time to commemorate this BIG moment in images. Graduations are not like birthdays. They are about endings to a chapter and full of exciting new beginnings. Like newborn, engagement, and maternity portraits, we treat them with joy because the “What’s Next?” is filled with so much hope.

We have photographed our fair share of senior and graduation portraits, and what I love more than anything is that they are not one size fits all. Some graduates want the cap and gown; others prefer to document the end of an era by having photos that capture their particular vibe and outlook and personality. Regardless, we love to take these images, especially because the season is perfect for outdoor photography.

If you have a senior in your house and know that it’s time for new portraits, of a milestone or your kids generally, contact us. The weather is springy and there are plenty of venues perfect for graduation or senior portraits.

David’s High School Senior Portrait Photos

David Eldridge (and his lifelong friend and sidekick Bryson) let Ryan hang out with them AND grab David’s senior portraits. David is one of five boys in a family that is generous, rugged, and anchored by their superhero mom – Stacy. In the land of men, she is not just the elder, but the Queen and I’ve admired her for years.

Back to David!! He and Bryson are all man, all about the outdoors and all about farm life and being real. Having Bryson around loosened David up, made him less self-conscious and the pair cracked each other up and were able to relax. (Ryan too had a ball.) In fact, Ryan and I commented that in some of these photos the pair reminded him of a country music duo shooting an album cover… think Tyler Childers or Chris Stapleton. There’s no cynicism with these two, just friendship and a sense that simplicity in all things is best.

There was no second choice for this location of this session – it was going to be outside and on the family farm. Senior portraits are an important milestone and we’ve captured older brother Gage’s portraits a couple of years ago.

We’ve shot images of this family for a decade. The most recent took place with members of both the Eldridge and Wood families, but we started years ago, when the boys really were just that – boys.

Congratulations, David and the class of 2021! We are so proud of you!

We’re Still Celebrating…

… even during scary times. There are still birthdays and graduations and friendships in need of highlighting. We need to celebrate even in the era of a global pandemic. We value our health and we value our customers, so when we were able to safely photograph this momentous occasion, we grabbed the opportunity.

Big R Orchards, a popular wedding and event venue in Moravian Falls, NC was the spot and everyone who came that day had such great energy. This happens when you get people who love each other together and when folks have been pinned up for months.

Most proms were cancelled this year, but dresses were purchased and friends wanted to get dressed up and made up and see one another.

I mean, seriously, are those above not the most dapper and darling individuals you’ve seen lately? They can still look back on this crazy year and have a glamorous memento or two.

We also celebrated birthdays and family time with members all dolled up and happy to be outdoors and with each other.

Congrats to Laura – A new Appalachian State University Grad

Like so many others during this Pandemic, Laura Souther did something note-worthy: she graduated from college. The fanfare of years past wasn’t there and while we know these newly minted grads are adults, we wish for more pomp and circumstance, pardon the pun. They deserve our heartfelt, if virtual, high fives. We had the honor of capturing Laura at her now alma mater – Appalachian State University – in mid-May on a truly gorgeous day.

She sparkled next to the sign with her sash, and her big smile was memorable, and indicative of the young woman she is.

It’s hard to believe but we photographed this girl 4 years ago for her senior prom. She looked amazing, but man! Father Time, could you just go take a break? Some of us want you to speed up and propel us forward, but as a mom of a two year old, I’d like to see you pump the breaks. I know Laura is raring to go though. She has been accepted to and will start graduate school in speech pathology next and is excited about the next phase of her life.

Laura: you are going places, sweetheart! We appreciate your resilience, your hope in the future and the work that you are going to put into making the world better. From the bottom of our hearts, congratulations!
