Spring Bridal Portraits will warm you UP

So much goes into choosing your wedding gown and once you have, once you’ve heard The Love Theme from Romeo & Juliet and said Yes to the Dress and gone through the process of making it yours, etc. it’s’ time to schedule your portraits. Granted, you’ll have fittings and want to try it on and twirl around and work out your hair and flowers, but once you feel like you know the path, we want to be there to capture photos that will become heirlooms. And isn’t thinking about this and planning for it more fun navigating the multiple layers of clothing we all find ourselves in this January?

commercial prom portraits for Bridal Traditions

Recently we were hired by good friend and fellow wedding aficionado, Kelly of BeYOUtiful Prom Boutique at Bridal Traditions to take some commercial fashion photos for her. We go way back with Kelly and with her amazing business, so we were jazzed to jump in and do our part to help her as she prepares her marketing materials for 2018’s prom season. We photographed model and real junior-prom attendee Stacie Shumate in her actual prom gown purchased from BeYOUtiful Prom. The fashion shoot took place in our outdoor portrait garden at the Pixels’ studio in Wilkesboro. We photographed Stacie’s portraits just three short years ago in the peach orchards and can’t believe how much she has changed in such a short time. It was a pleasure and a treat! Thanks for letting us be a part of your business and life and for letting us watch you grow Stacie.Stacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoStacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoStacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoStacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoStacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoStacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoStacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoStacie's outdoor portrait Bridal Traditions prom commerical photography by Pixels On Paper Wilkesboro NC Photographers photoWe love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. A Bride by any other name | pixels on paper bridal portraits

… is still as sweet and will always be the focus of her wedding day, at least for part of it. People will remember the dancing, the toasts, the goof-ups and sweet moments, but her entry happens one time and all eyes are on her. Maybe this is why bridal portraits are so important. You get more than one look at her in her dress and in a meaningful setting that will last forever in prints and on film. We photograph weddings pretty much all year, but wedding season is really summer. As this summer rolls along, I looked back at some bridal photos that we’ve taken over the last decade. I realized how it’s true that every bride – like every baby – is beautiful. The gown, the setting, the glow are all offshoots of the glorious woman about to start a new chapter. Brides – we celebrate you!©2016 Pixels On Paper Photographers. http://www.pixelsonpaper.net Do not copy, crop, or remove watermark. photo

They are classical, modern, some want to be princesses, some want to look like photographs of their grandmother, one incorporated book pages into her bouquet, others repurposed brooches or lace or another memento, some seem like complete originals and others timeless. Capturing that is the fun part.

Consider a bridal portrait along with your wedding photography package as a way to experience a “trial run” before your wedding day. It’s a perfect way to try a new hair style and see how your makeup will look. It’s also a fun girl’s day with Mom, your best friend or maid of honor. The setting and season can be totally different from that of the wedding and the environment and timeline is typically much more relaxed giving us extra time to capture those magazine style covers you’ve dreamed of. Sometimes the session is for Mom to have the large portrait of you that she wants to display on the wedding day and then for years to come in her home to share with loved ones and friends. We are happy to help you plan and create the vision of beauty that defines you as a bride.

april anniversaries | celebrate love & spring

Caroline & Andy – 4 years April 6th

“It is spring again. The earth is like a child that knows poems by heart.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
And amen to that. Spring is for poetry and love and poems about love. Musicals with singing birds and otherwise sane people bursting into song, etc, etc. The key is not to waste it. Sometimes winter feels like months of interminable chill and spring more like a single afternoon.
These couples are celebrating April anniversaries and we had the pleasure of being the documenters of their favorite spring day.

Jill & Brent – 9 years April 11th

Kristen & Dustin – 6 years April 16th

Michelle & Bradley – 7 years April 17th

Anna & Brad – 8 years April 18th

Ashley & Phillip – 4 years April 20th

Rachel & Brandon – 10 years April 21

Lisa & Charlie – 8 years April 25

Sabrina & Brian – 9 years April 26th

Bailey & Phillip – 5 years April 28th

Ernest Hemingway – not known for his poetry, or his gravitas for that matter – wrote: “When spring came, even the false spring, there were no problems except where to be happiest. The only thing that could spoil a day was people…” LOL!! These sweethearts didn’t have that problem, clearly.
CHEERS to you all! Ryan and I raise our glasses on your behalf and to decades more springs together.

a church wedding | two cultures and two families come together

Our hearts go out to the parents of brides and grooms. I think about this every time that Ryan and I shoot a wedding. God Bless the parents. They are exhilarated and stressed, proud and nervous, but mostly in love with their kids – who are no longer kids. How do you go from diapers to driving and then big decisions? How do you go from watching them choose a sport in middle school to a spouse for life? And with grace? To the parents, this must feel like it happens in 72 hours rather than a couple of decades. We honor the parents and love watching them love a celebration of their kids.Orozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoThe tender moments included watching Ashley’s father place a pearl necklace around her and seeing them both in tears. The mind goes to the number of times they stood that close together as he watched her grow up and now, here she was: a bride.

Orozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoWhile Ashley Caudill and Oscar Orozco married young (please read about their engagement to learn how they met), their wedding showed astonishing wisdom, love and faith. Prior to the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom were blindfolded and they joined hands while Oscar prayed for them. I (Misty) was the only other person in the room and it was incredibly touching. I wish that there was a recording of the words in Oscar’s prayer for them, because they were filled with humility, grace and wisdom far beyond his years. Orozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoBoth Ashley and Oscar agree that the best moment of the day was seeing each other for the first time. Neither of them could hold back crying tears of joy and reflect on those moments whenever they look back and talk about their wedding day. Orozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoA lasso binding ceremony is part of the Orozco’s culture. A beautiful rhinestone cross lasso was placed around Ashley & Oscar by their parents symbolizing a binding unity as they prayed together and said their vows. We would love to see how the lasso will be used in future generations as an heirloom.Orozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photo

Another outward gesture of unity and symbol of their faith was a binding of three cords which Ashley & Oscar created and performed representing the scripture verse from Ecclesiastes 4:12 “Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.”Orozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photoOrozco Elkin NC wedding photography pictures by Wilkesboro Photographers Pixels On Paper photo
