Wedding & Bridal Shows coming up | See you there!
We’ve met more wonderful clients at bridal shows and expos than we can count. We’ve set up our area and then spent the day chatting with brides-to-be, their moms and friends and future mothers-in-law and booking weddings, bridal portraits and Quinceañeras. But honestly, we’ve booked all sorts of other events and portrait sessions, so if you’re planning an event in 2017, either of these shows would be worth your time as you build on ideas and search for excellent vendors.
Some serious lifelong friendships were born in little wedding expo booths, so we’re proud to announce two that are coming up in a few weeks. The Ashe Bridal and Special Event Fair is Sunday March 5th from 12-4 at Ashe County High School – less than a month away.
The Wilkes Wedding Expo is another special event we’ve loved to participate in and we’ll be there again this year. Join us on March 12 from 1-4 at The John A Walker Center in Wilkesboro. Click here for tickets to the Wilkes Wedding Expo.

Later in April, you can visit us at The High South Wedding Expo held on Sunday April 23rd, 2017 at the Boone Mall in partnership with Savor Blowing Rock from 1:00pm – 4:00pm.
Even if you’re just beginning to plan, it’s never too early to start making connections with all the different types of vendors you’ll need for your wedding day and all of us are eager to hear your story and work with you to make sure that everything happens just the way you want it. Winter Outdoor Family Portraits ~ the Graybeals
It didn’t feel like 7 years had passed since we got to hang with Crystal and Adam. The fun, laughs and teasing seemed to pick back up right where we left off. This time we were able to make friends with the new “little Graybeals.” Colton was a little shy upon first meeting us. After a few clicks of the shutter though, Ryan took him on a little exploration adventure through the nature trails, and that kid was shy no more. We were now a part of his entourage. As for wee one Landon, he won us over with his drooling grins and very expressive eye brows.
We love a winter photo shoot and seeing the strength of good couple and their growing family out in it. Much love to burgeoning family units out there and forget the seven year itch! Love that works never gets old.

A Half Birthday Portrait Session | Sweet Sawyer Dean
Traci Pierce has been standing over her second son Sawyer and apparently holidng a watering can.
He’s growing fast and now at 6 month’s, he has a face that’s moving from baby to boy.
Traci wanted Sawyer’s 6 month photos to be the same as his older brother Holden’s. White cotton, simple and classic. It’s pure and sweet and I love that she wanted that simplicity. It’s a color-scheme that let’s the child shine through. Both Sawyer and his mom were crisply dressed, but gooey together. I loved this shoot!
Traci and her husband Andy have moved into a new house – as if 2 young boys wasn’t enough work. We loved being with them at Christmas for their in home session and the newness of the house was everywhere – and wonderful. A special service Pixels offers is assisting clients with rearranging and redesigning previous wall collections we created for their old home when they transition to the new one.
A few weeks ago I visited their home, took measurements and photos of all the walls where they saw their story being told and where they wanted to show off their family, and I made an inventory of all the photos we’ve printed and framed for them. Back in the office I created new wall collections using their existing photos and made suggestions of how to continue to build upon those layouts with the addition of Sawyer’s photos as well as future family portraits. The monochromatic approach makes this transition a bit easier, because bright white looks elegant in any surrounding. 
We love creating heirlooms for our clients, especially in a culture of selfies and snapshots and we certainly love it when a growing family can recalibrate a wall of photos to accommodate new siblings and new memories. The Pierces are dear to us and we’re excited that even on the busiest day, when there might be chaos in every direction, Traci and Andy can glance at the walls, see those boys in crisp white and think: “Well, THAT happened! At that time they were new and teeny and luscious and perfect.”

It’s the MOST wonderful tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime of the year!!
Yes, Christmas is actually the title holder, but as professional photographers who love documenting events as much as celebrations and the daily lives of our clients, MerleFest is in second place. Once again, we’re going as Official Photographers and full-time music fans and we’re psyched. This is our third year to get the announcement from them that we’re going to this amazing music festival. Count down is on to one of our absolute favorite and hardest jobs of the year!

Merlefest 2015 for Pixels was spectacular and we walked 12 million steps – give or take. We took some of our favorite event photos including this one of the Avett Brothers.

2016 was even busier as Ryan and I split up visiting stages, shooting various artists and bands and then loading images. A blast! Merlefest this year runs from Thursday, April 27 to Sunday the 30th and we’re already trying to figure out how to store sleep and vitamin C (not possible) and looking forward to the crazy pace. This year will be one of the largest yet as they’re celebrating the event’s 30th year. The lineup this year is amazing. The Avett Brothers will be back, along with Scythian, the Zach Brown Band, Andy May, The Contenders, The Waybacks, the Steep Canyon Rangers and dozens of others. Get your tickets and meet us there!
