Why Print Your Portraits?

We’re glad you asked. Honestly, I could write a book on the “look at my phone” fatigue that I personally and many of my friends have shared they too suffer from. At dinner or at work, we pass our phones back and forth and smile and nod and often it’s fine. But printing your professional photos and portraits gives you way more.

Gifts that keep giving!

For starters, prints make amazing gifts. On canvas or in frames, calendars or scrapbooks, people want to spend time with a photo vs. swiping a screen only slightly larger than a business card.

You Re-Live the Moment

I have a pal whose mom says, “you take a trip 3 times: once when you’re planning; again when you’re there and a third time when you look at the photos.” The same is true for big milestones or simple hikes in the woods. Make a print and you return to that moment, that day, that kiss, that ensemble every time you look at it.

Prints Make Great Decor

Pottery, plants, tapestries and wall art make your home or office uniquely yours. What puts your signature on it though is when it is personal and photography does that better than anything else. When we create custom walls for our clients, they give us a sense of the space and we bring their vision to fruition. We even come to your place to hang it so that there is symmetry and artistry in the final result.

Prints Make You Happy

While prints make superb birthday, graduation, holiday, Mother’s/Father’s/Grandparent’s Day gift, they also make you happy. Yes, you’re reliving a moment (see above), but you’re also just stopping in the current moment. I feel a sense of comfort and general happiness when I look at photo prints. They remind me how far I’ve come and are markers of the life I’ve lived.

Orchard photos ~ time to schedule for Spring 2020

Hello, Outdoor Lovers! Even though we’ve not quite reached the first day of spring, you can almost smell it in the air. Pixels has the exclusive use of a gorgeous orchard and for more than a decade we’ve photographed babies, families, proposals, engagement and prom photos there. It’s time to schedule yours for spring 2020.

For us, this place is magic and more than a few families have chosen to return with us over the years to chronicle the growth of their children or specific milestones. It’s fresh and pretty and there are loads of places to grab portraits that make heirlooms and perfect Mother’s Day or Grandparent’s Day gifts.

We are now booking sessions for March and April, so contact us and let’s start plotting a session among the blossoms. These sessions are limited and happen only for a narrow window of time based totally on whatever wheather Mother Nature throws our way. Get on our schedule early!

Why We Love Photographing Faces

Well I don’t know why you guys love faces, but for me, it’s the unexpected, the surprised, the tender, the ridiculous, the charmed… you get me? It’s the expressive nature of the human face. I love the expressions that enter my lens and end up in frames or in albums or on holiday cards. I read that “researchers” have identified 21 distinct facial expressions, but I would swear that there are more.

Baby Faces…

Couples

Fall in love and suddenly all of it – the excitement, the fascination, the bewilderment, the abject helplessness in the face of the one you love – is easy to spot on the faces of the newly engaged and just married. Cases in point are below.

Happy, Fun Faces

And then there is just love, tenderness, humor, and peace. I could blog about the expressions I’ve seen on people’s faces for months and never repeat a photo.

Kids

Seeing the 21 + expressions on the faces of kids is its own reward.

When families come to us for photographs, I am always excited to see and meet new faces. Once we start the shoot, it becomes more than a joy…. the faces that are displayed remind me why I love my job. There are just too, too many great faces. Bring yours to our studio or let’s plan a day out to capture the faces of those you love the most.

Ashleigh High School Senior

This lovely 18 year old is Ashleigh, and recently when we photographed her family in Stone Mountain, we also made time to get photos of her as a soon-to-be high school graduate. In May of 2020, Ashleigh will finish up at West Wilkes High School and head on to her next adventure. I love this young woman and I have been photographing her since she was about 3. I cannot believe that she’s graduating from high school, because I graduated HS with her mom!!!!! I have a two year old, Ashleigh’s mom Jenny has an 18 year old. We Gen-Xers all took our own paths and I love it.

One of the things I love about Ashleigh is that she knows her own mind and is perfectly happy to share her thoughts. She’s not rude, but she’s sassy and holds her own when ribbing her brother and parents, who were on the shoot with us. She is fun and funny and honest with herself. This is a girl I won’t need to worry about.

During the outdoor portrait session, Ashleigh had three or four wardrobe changes, and wore a boho style hat that she loved. She looks fab in it, if I say so myself.

Not all rising seniors or almost graduated students are happy with the options provided through their school and Ashleigh really wanted images that could work in a photo album, graduation invitations & announcements and especially on social media. We made sure that we captured loads for her to share, print and frame. Seniors: there are a lot of options out there and you have specific needs during this time in life. I promise, we’ve got you covered.

Congratulations, Girl! Ryan and I are so proud of you and hope you’ll keep letting us snap your photo long into the next chapters of your life.
