At Pixels On Paper, we treasure every chance to capture the beginning of a new life. As a newborn photographer in Wilkesboro NC, we were honored to welcome baby Lucy—daughter of Preston and Maddie Roberts—into our studio for her very first portrait session. We’ve photographed this wonderful couple from their engagement to their wedding, and now, we’re thrilled to capture them as proud new parents.
Little Lucy is a dream come true. Wrapped in a delicate blush pink swaddle and topped with a soft floral headband, she peacefully slept through most of her newborn session. Her session was full of soft textures, warm tones, and tender moments—exactly the kind of timeless portraits her parents will cherish forever.
Preston and Maddie live in Jefferson, North Carolina, and made the trip to our studio in Wilkesboro for Lucy’s newborn portraits. It’s always extra special when our returning clients travel to work with us again—especially when we’ve shared such meaningful experiences in the past. Seeing Maddie now as a glowing mother, and Preston quietly beaming with pride as a new dad, was a beautiful continuation of their story.
We photographed Preston and Maddie’s wedding just a few years ago. Now, they’re back in front of our cameras with their baby girl. These full-circle moments are what we love most.
Being trusted to capture each chapter of a family’s story is a true gift.
Newborn sessions are best within the first two weeks of life—when babies are still very sleepy and snugly. We recommend booking during your second trimester to save your spot.
At Pixels On Paper, we offer natural, heartfelt newborn photography in Wilkesboro, Jefferson, Boone, and across the High Country. Our studio is calm, warm, and perfect for growing families.
We’d love to tell your story, too. We take great care in styling and posing each session to reflect your family’s unique love, style and personality.
If you’re expecting a little one, we’d be honored to help tell your family’s story—just like we did for the Roberts family.

We’re on a roll – or getting there – with our round-up of favorite baby blogs. This one will showcase favorites 6-month baby portrait sessions. Ryan and I are hip-deep in parenthood and love it – even the trying times are quickly turning into memories for us to laugh about and eye roll over later.
[Casual aside: If you’re going to do this parenting thing: DO IT. I watch friends celebrating another year circling the sun and it goes by so fast. AND THAT, my dear readers, is why getting professional portraits taken is vital.]
Case in point, pardon the pun… we take professional images of our own child Finley Case at every milestone. Yes, we capture images on our smart phones too, but we make time to get out the pro gear and do it right. Here’s his 6-month photo shoot.
Other favorite 6-month portrait sessions that are memorable favorites.
Sarah Grace – below – was too big for planting in a flower pot, as she was in her 8th month and a girl on the go. Getting her to sit still took creativity of anther kind. Keep reading >>
Harper, below, also loves pearls and ruffles and 6 months is the perfect time to get baby girls to sit up, dress up and light up. Read more >>
Sweet Ava went from a purple tutu in her newborn photos to being a little woodland fairy in her 6-month outdoor portrait session.
Gavin donned his autumn gear for his 6-month outdoor shoot. So it’s not just pearls and studio portraits at this age. We encourage families to join in, to dress up or down, to go outside and have props. Whatever makes you happy! More on Gavin’s 6-month shoot >>
And we close out with sweet Conner T in a summer outdoor shoot at the family orchard. Read his 6 month blog >>

Dear Ones,
It’s summer – officially. Memorial Day weekend is in the rearview and you may now wear white and avoid the eye-rolling of old school Southerners who believe in such rules. It’s also time for helpful reminders: sunscreen is important; make a list before car trips (I mean it); wear a hat if you’re in the garden; clean your grill, buy new fly swatters and lanterns, etc, etc, etc. We would also like to remind you that we have a referral program at Pixels and if you aren’t taking advantage of it – do! And if you didn’t know about it, here’s the deal:
Any existing client of Pixels (you’ve hired us for a wedding or portrait session of one type or another) who refers us to someone who then books us for a wedding, will receive their own FREE portrait session PLUS $250 in print credits from us.
Any existing client of Pixels who refers us to someone who then books us for a portrait session, will receive their own FREE portrait session that year PLUS $50 in print credits from us. For every additional referral they send us, they will receive yet another $50 print credit. The more you send others who book with us, the more rewards we’re happy to lavish on you. What constitutes a portrait? Pretty much anything. Have a look!
KEY NOTES: We want our existing clients to make sure to tell the folks they are referring to us to MENTION THE REFERRING CLIENT’S NAME, so that they get the rewards they deserve. If someone books a wedding or portrait and doesn’t mention that they heard about us from you, how will we be able to shower you with some love? Speak up! We love making these connections and new relationships!
This program offer EXCLUDES limited edition and promo session referrals. Contact us if you have questions!
We love being able to give a lift to our existing clients and those they know! Keep this in mind this summer, ya’ll!

If you feel like the clock is doing that Salvador Dali thing of melting slooooooowly, … first, I admire your knowledge of surrealism. Secondly, though, it’s not slowly melting. It’s moving faster than any of us can comprehend. I get it: 7 days a week, 60 seconds in a minute, 24 hours a day and that doesn’t change, but I swear this child’s older sibling was just born. And now HERE HE IS celebrating his own first birthday. This is sweet Sawyer and he’s made his first trip around the sun.Sawyer: “These are my hands” (above). “The tops of them you can see on the left and on the right, my palms! Pretty cool, huh?”
Sawyer Dean Pierce turned one on June 9, 2017 and we photographed his one year portrait and cake smash photo session on that very day. We had fun designing his nautical beach themed backdrop in the Pixels On Paper photography portrait studio, but he seemed less than thrilled with diving into a cake. Some kids do and some kids don’t. This one couldn’t care less about the sweets (at least on this day). What he is into is playing outside, hanging with his big brother Holden, dancing, swinging on swings and growing those curls. We love photographing the Pierce family and have been their photographers for more than a few milestones. Sawyer’s growth needs to slow down, but it’s not going to happen, I’m afraid. He is definitely giving his big brother Holden a run for his money in size and stature.
Sawyer’s newborn and 6 month portrait photography sessions are a testament to how quickly the time will fly by.
Contact us if you want to set up portrait sessions for your newborn, 6 month, one month or family portraits. We love the babies!
Flynn washes ashore…
On February 2nd, 1709, British sailor Alexander Selkirk was rescued after being marooned on a desert island for 5 years. His story inspired a book most of us read as kids … or at least we know it: it’s the story of Robinson Crusoe. Real quick – young sailor, impetuous, adventurous, defied his parents and sails to Brazil and Africa and eventually is marooned on an island and completely alone. He survives, becomes skilled, grows closer to God, picks up a slave named Friday and is finally rescued. Good book, you readers out there.
What does this have to do with Flynn Alexander Lundy? Precisely nothing, except that Flynn was born on February 2nd just over 300 years later. And he’s a boy. And with a name like Flynn, he’s got adventure in him – we just feel it.
Kathren & Nathan Lundy (Flynn’s mom and dad) are a couple we photographed for their engagement and beautiful wedding portraits. Prior to the session at our Wilkesboro studio, we asked that they send us photos of their home so we could coordinate backdrops for little Flynn. And there was the sea – in foam, in depths of green and blue and a little sailor to place among them. Their home was filled with color and matches their lively and fun personalities. We loved matching our backgrounds to their palette.
We look forward to photographing Flynn and his parents for many years to come. For now, he’s resting up and dreaming of voyages far way.
