Our clients are brides, engaged couples, couples with their pets, siblings, and families of all sizes. The Pirate Party Wedding of Edith and Kirk

If we had a golden doubloon for every time we were asked to attend or photograph a pirate wedding – we’d have a single coin and a million pirate jokes we’d be tempted to make. But this was no joke and the ceremony itself was filled to the brim with pirate references and joy that only the likes of Robert Louis Stevenson and Sir Walter Scott. It started as a party but this year, the host couple added a new element: they got married, …. on their property ……. dressed as pirates and surrounded by their friends, many in costume. It was a blast, down to when the last sword was sheathed and the last lantern was out.west jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photoThe couple are in beverage distribution, so there was no shortage of beer and ale for the party and their first dance as man and wife was to Chris Stapleton’s Tennessee Whiskey. west jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photoEdith and Kirk have been a couple for 21 years and a dozen of those ago, they started hosting a pirate party on their gorgeous wooded property that boasts a stream that runs through it and a pirate ship. Their place is called: the Piratez Cove. If you find yourself suffering from poverty of imagination for a party or a wedding (or both), take note:
Edith’s processional music was AC/DC’s Highway to Hell. They said their vows on a bridge that Kirk built. No walking the plank. Before the ceremony, they had a parlay party where the bride and groom laid their weapons out on a table. Kirk had a few, but Edith had quite a few more. Peace was established.west jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photowest jefferson nc outdoor wedding photographers pixels on paper photography photoThe party lasted late in the evening and a chef pal of the couple made Japanese rice hibachi for those staying up and hanging out. We had the best time. These 2 and their friends are a fun bunch of pirates and pirate-loving peeps. Summer 2016 ~ or some of it

This summer, Ryan and I are working, of course. But we’re also “having a summer” and so far it has been filled with some travel, 2 birthdays, a storm that sent tree limbs through the roof of our 100+ year old house and watching our small but mighty (MIGHTY, I SAY) garden yield glorious veggies. Here are some highlights (and lowlights). We love you guys. Hope your summers are safe and fun and plentiful, as well.

Pixels on Paper Photography Summer 2016 Garden clusterOur summer has also included a usual southern visitor – storms. North Carolina (both the piedmont and mountains) have seen daily thunderstorms in the afternoons and evenings for days on end and often with the fanfare of thunder and lightening as well. I love what rain does to our garden, but the more harsh storms in Wilkes County have been doozies. One in particular, in early July hit the Pixels homestead. Our neighbors were without power and sustained lots of damage. I thank God for a sturdy husband, no loss of power, crews ready to come in and no personal injuries. It could have been worse, but it wasn’t.

Our lovebug – Chelsea, a Southern girl hanging out on the porch during my birthday and while we were shooting an engagement portrait session in Charleston.

We love to travel all over the states, but southern summers are pretty wonderful. We’re grateful for each other, for our family, friends and clients, for getting to do what we love and for 4 seasons and all they bring with them. Autumn is still “a ways off,” so we’re going to stay in the good company of summer for now.

now booking winter portrait photography throughout the nc mountains

It’s winter. It hasn’t felt like it completely yet, but the cold is coming and winter in the NC mountains is stunning. Snow on the ground, leafless trees, broad meadows and our awesome mountains make a perfect landscape. This time of year is an opportunity for portraits that are unique, creative and cool (insert snarky laugh track here).
Pixels on Paper NC winter mountain bridal portraits photosPixels on Paper NC winter mountain bridal portraits photosPixels on Paper NC winter mountain bridal portraits photosHonestly, we wish more brides would consider portraits this time of year and not shy away from the elements. We’re all accustomed to the greens, yellows, and pinks of spring, but winter white is breathtaking and bridal portraits this time of year turn out to be singular, and with an equally beautiful palette. Barren trees and dormant grounds can still be amazing in the dead of winter. A beautiful bride will stand out even more against such a backdrop.
Even though not much snow remained on the ground during these shots, we set up this shoot with our gorgeous model, Tiffany Roope and once accessorized, she was the winter princess of each portrait.

We live in a part of the country that knocks our socks off, and then requires that we promptly put them right back on. BE BOLD! Have you thought about bridal portraits that are different from what you’ve seen or taken into consideration engagement portraits that creatively showcase a fall or winter landscape? Don’t be afraid to try something that might not have occurred to you before. The results can be unforgettable. Our reviews will tell you that we are creative and adventurous, but we are friends and guides also. We will not steer you wrong.

Contact us for bridal portraits by phone – 336.990.0080 – or email. We’re booking and would love a chance to work with you to do something new!

By the way – Tiffany’s dress & accessories were provided by Bridal Traditions Wedding Attire.
