At Pixels On Paper, we believe youth sports photography is about so much more than just pictures. It’s about telling the story of a season, a team, and each individual athlete. Recently, we had the joy of working with the NWNC Elite 8U York baseball team to create keepsake portraits that celebrate their love of the game and the friendships they’ve built along the way.
Whether it’s a child’s first uniform, first game, or first team photo, these are milestones worth capturing. That’s why we approach every youth sports session with creativity, care, and a deep respect for the families and communities we serve.

During this session, we photographed both the full team and each player individually. The team photos showcased unity and pride—players standing together in uniform, smiles wide, proud to represent NWNC Elite. These group images not only reflect the team’s dedication but also give families a timeless reminder of a special season.

In the individual portraits, each child had a chance to shine. Some were serious and game-ready, while others couldn’t help but smile ear to ear. Every photo reflected the energy, personality, and spirit that make youth baseball such a joy to photograph. We used professional lighting, posing, and natural backgrounds to help each athlete look their best.

Youth sports provide so many important life lessons—teamwork, perseverance, discipline, and friendship. As parents and coaches know, the season flies by quickly. Before you know it, they’re on to the next age group, the next team, or even a new sport entirely.

That’s why youth baseball photography is so valuable. It freezes these fleeting moments in time. A well-captured image becomes more than just a photo—it’s a reminder of the sweat, the fun, and the growth that happened out on the diamond. For the NWNC Elite 8U York team, these photos reflect a proud chapter in each player’s story.

Some portraits are more than just pictures—they’re milestones. This spring, we had the absolute pleasure of photographing Maggie and Holt among the stunning peach blossoms at Tevepaugh Orchards, a dream come true for their mom, Meghann.
At Pixels On Paper Photography, we’ve been honored to photograph this family from the very beginning—capturing Meghann and Josh wedding portraits and now their two growing children. As a Wilkes County family photographer, these lasting relationships are why we do what we do.

Peak bloom can be hard to predict, but this year, everything came together. The trees at Tevepaugh Orchards in North Carolina were bursting with color, and the golden spring light created the perfect setting for a peach blossom photo session.
Sessions like these showcase the best of spring orchard photography in NC—colorful, natural, and full of life.

Meghann had envisioned this session for a few years, and this spring finally brought the opportunity to make it real. As a children’s portrait photographer in North Carolina, capturing moments in meaningful locations is part of what makes these photos so timeless.
Maggie and Holt brought all the joy and energy we could ask for. These images reflect the deep bond between siblings and the beauty of letting kids be themselves.

To make the most of this outdoor family photography session, we used playful and candid prompts to help Maggie and Holt relax and have fun:
🌸 “Walk between the rows and explore like you’re in a fairy tale.”
🌸 “Lie down and let the petals fly around you.”
🌸 “Let’s find the prettiest blossom and smell it together.”
🌸 “Sit together under the tree and tell each other a secret.”
🌸 “Pretend the blossoms are snow and try to catch them!”
These creative photo prompts are a great way to add spontaneity and authenticity to any children’s portrait session.
This wasn’t just a session—it was a dream realized. Meghann’s patience and vision made this custom family photo session feel magical. We’re so thankful she entrusted us with another chapter in her family’s story.
The peach blossoms, the laughter, the soft spring light—this gallery is a reflection of everything we love about family portraits in Wilkes NC and beyond.

At Pixels On Paper, we treasure every chance to capture the beginning of a new life. As a newborn photographer in Wilkesboro NC, we were honored to welcome baby Lucy—daughter of Preston and Maddie Roberts—into our studio for her very first portrait session. We’ve photographed this wonderful couple from their engagement to their wedding, and now, we’re thrilled to capture them as proud new parents.

Little Lucy is a dream come true. Wrapped in a delicate blush pink swaddle and topped with a soft floral headband, she peacefully slept through most of her newborn session. Her session was full of soft textures, warm tones, and tender moments—exactly the kind of timeless portraits her parents will cherish forever.

Preston and Maddie live in Jefferson, North Carolina, and made the trip to our studio in Wilkesboro for Lucy’s newborn portraits. It’s always extra special when our returning clients travel to work with us again—especially when we’ve shared such meaningful experiences in the past. Seeing Maddie now as a glowing mother, and Preston quietly beaming with pride as a new dad, was a beautiful continuation of their story.

We photographed Preston and Maddie’s wedding just a few years ago. Now, they’re back in front of our cameras with their baby girl. These full-circle moments are what we love most.
Being trusted to capture each chapter of a family’s story is a true gift.

Newborn sessions are best within the first two weeks of life—when babies are still very sleepy and snugly. We recommend booking during your second trimester to save your spot.
At Pixels On Paper, we offer natural, heartfelt newborn photography in Wilkesboro, Jefferson, Boone, and across the High Country. Our studio is calm, warm, and perfect for growing families.
We’d love to tell your story, too. We take great care in styling and posing each session to reflect your family’s unique love, style and personality.
If you’re expecting a little one, we’d be honored to help tell your family’s story—just like we did for the Roberts family.

We are diving head first into 2024 but not before completing a blog post that recaps the photos of our client’s and friends from 2023. We continue to feel incredibly blessed that so many each and every year trust us to photograph and capture the most important memories of their lives. We met some amazing people, felt like a part of so many of these people’s lives, and more often than not were right there along side of them having just as much fun. We gained numerous friendships last year. 2023 brought senior portraits, family portraits, newborn photography, photos of children, pet pics, and commercial photography both in our studio and out and about on location. We are inpatient when it comes to figuring out what 2024 will bring and excited about the photographs we will capture and designs we will create
The following are a few of our personal favorite images from some of those we photographed in 2023. Enjoy the view!

We love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. Pixels on Paper photographs newborns and families, special events and portraits of all kinds in our Wilkesboro, NC studio. We would be honored to meet with you, learn about you and your family and be a part of taking special portraits that will become, we hope, family heirlooms.

As we straddle the seasons (what North Carolinians know as “my new daffodils invited the last snow” season), I’m noticing the details everywhere. It got me thinking about the details I love to capture in my photographs. There is always a subject – always a story being told – but it’s the details that we hover over.
In that vein – here are some favorites. Happy Spring, gang! Don’t worry – you’ll get that hour back one way or another.
Engagement portraits speak to love and the anticipation of your public union. But for me, these images are transformed when I can capture the small glances, the body English, the closeness between the almost married. These images take my breath away still.

Maternity portraits are some of my favorites. Mothers in that mode of nesting and at their most happy, full and ripe. But I always encourage the father or father-to-be to take part in front of the camera. The union of the parents always comes through in the images and the details of care and excitement come through.

There aren’t enough blog posts to contain my favorite images of babies being …………. babies.
