Every state in the US has it’s schools and teams and naturally North Carolina is no different. The rivalries and passions around them are intense and whether you participate or not, you’re aware. And really, it’s pretty fun to watch and nice to see loyalty and pride played out on some level. This family is passionate about UNC Chapel Hill where both parents – Carisa and Bradley attended and are proud alums.
Naturally, when it was time to shoot a new family portrait session, they turned to the hallowed grounds – and it wasn’t necessary to bribe their kids who are absolute tarheels. ![]()

The campus grounds were a perfect place to shoot Carisa, Bradley and their children Slater and Alarie. We’ve photographed this family before and they have such a lively joy about them, the shoot itself was a breeze. While walking from one place to the next parents were able to share stories with the kids of their time there. The family goes to athletic games on campus as often as they can. Slater was particularly excited to go to the school book store after our session so that he could get championship memorabilia.

We always love to oblige families that have a particularly important or beloved venue for their session. Whether it’s a family home, a stadium, by a river or with mountain views, we’re in if you are.
We love family portraits whether they are set in the studio, the great outdoors, a specific location like the mountains or high country, or on our property in our outdoor portrait garden. Pixels on Paper photographs, engagements and weddings, brides, and special events and portraits of all kinds in our Wilkesboro, NC studio. We would be honored to meet with you, learn about you and your family and be a part of taking special portraits that will become, we hope, family heirlooms.

Buckle up, buttercups and get out your calendars. Before you can say, “it’s time to throw out the last of the Halloween candy,” it will be time for Christmas portraits. The time to schedule them is RIGHT NOW.
This year, we are offering two options from which to choose. The first are the in-home documentary sessions just as we did last year. We shot several of these and we, and they, LOVED the experience. We’re excited to do it again this year. In-home sessions can be scheduled from the time that a family’s home is decorated (or being decorated) until December 10th.

The Holland and Minick families were two from last year and each shows the joy and reality of family Christmases. You can decorate all you want but life goes on and those images make some of the best portraits and the best memories.
Minick Family In home Lifestyle Christmas Photos 2016
You still gotta eat, even during the holidays and with two young kids, the Minicks invited us to capture their daily life in the kitchen as well.

I have a pal who finds hilarious pictures of her family from old portrait sessions and gives them as gifts each year, along with NEW portraits. It’s sort of a repurpose, re-gift, re-laugh about it. The time progression is its own reward along with her Mother’s laughter and recollections.

The York sons did something similar for Christmas last year, minus the goofy shots from the 1990s. These three men bought a family portrait session – a gift card from Pixels actually – and presented it to their parents, Mark & Denise York. The gift card was good for a family portrait of the entire York family, something they knew that their Mom had been wanting for a very long time.
Listen up, sons and daughters, especially if you’re looking for a Christmas or anniversary present for your parents: your mom and dad did all of that laundry, schlepped all of that sporting equipment, sewed quilted ballet bags to carry your point shoes, baked untold dozens of Toll House cookies, worked with paper mache, checked homework after 11 pm, wiped your rear end, taught you to drive and throw a football in a tight spiral and stood in line to buy toys you’ve long forgotten about …………… you with me? THEY EARNED IT.

Mrs. York cashed in her certificate at the end of August after undertaking the kind of coordination that would make the Pentagon cringe. She had 15 family members (4 generations) to pin down and she stuck the landing. On a gorgeous day at a picturesque family farm in North Wilkesboro, we met up with this crew and thank goodness for perfect weather. Finding another date would have been many more months in the making.

When we photograph families, extended families and multiple generations, we always capture a variety of combinations for the individual family units and the matriarchs and patriarchs who want everyone and all the time. Gift cards for photography are available for any occasion at all times but are especially popular at Christmas. If you’re interested, please contact us and we’ll start planning.

It’s nice to be part of a pack and the Eldridge boys are that. We’ve photographed them, along with their Mom, Stacy several times over the last decade. You get out your camera and you’re shoulder-deep in testosterone, conversations about hunting, being outside, riding dirt bikes and growing up on a family farm.
Gage Eldridge is a senior in high school this year, and like most guys in his late teens, he isn’t a fan of having his picture taken. What he is willing to do is bow to his Mom’s wishes. GOOD MAN.

Pixels has an ace up our sleeve when it comes to photographs of uncomfortable men, uncomfortable young men, boys who need to laugh and feel like they aren’t being hammered underneath the gaze of some critical eye. I’ll end the suspense and tell you that it’s Ryan. There were no girls allowed, no frills, no extra nonsense and mussing. It was just a couple of guys hanging out on a farm, having guy talk and taking photos in between. It’s the most comfortable environment and makes for the most natural portraits. ![]()

Gage has practically grown up working, hunting and riding dirt bikes on this family farm in Hamptonville NC so it only seemed appropriate that it be the location for his senior portraits. Don’t be fooled thinking this guy is all farm boy. Check out his favorite floral print shirt! Enjoy your Senior year, Gage. ![]()

Recently we were hired by good friend and fellow wedding aficionado, Kelly of BeYOUtiful Prom Boutique at Bridal Traditions to take some commercial fashion photos for her. We go way back with Kelly and with her amazing business, so we were jazzed to jump in and do our part to help her as she prepares her marketing materials for 2018’s prom season. We photographed model and real junior-prom attendee Stacie Shumate in her actual prom gown purchased from BeYOUtiful Prom. The fashion shoot took place in our outdoor portrait garden at the Pixels’ studio in Wilkesboro. We photographed Stacie’s portraits just three short years ago in the peach orchards and can’t believe how much she has changed in such a short time. It was a pleasure and a treat! Thanks for letting us be a part of your business and life and for letting us watch you grow Stacie.![]()
